"Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." And Elisha prayed, "Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 Kings 6:16-17 NIV)
When we die, we find that we have nothing to fear. Do you notice that in all the horror movies, the monsters are never afraid of anything? They are the perpetrators in search of a victim. But their victims are always living. The monsters ignore those already dead. So if we are dead we find that the monsters of sin and self cannot afflict us. We know that we who are born again have the nature of Adam and the new nature of Jesus. We need to make a choice: die to Adam’s nature and cling to Jesus. When we do this, we have nothing to fear.
When we cling to our Lord Jesus Christ, we can become healthy for we see the way, the truth and the life. Our eyes become the lamp to the body, switched on by the power of God, and we are filled up with God’s radiant beauty.
We find we are no longer ashamed. Do you notice that all evil is done in the dark or when we think no one is looking. We don’t want to get caught. But it becomes emboldened when we think there are no consequences. When we walk in the light as He is in the light our sins are washed away (1 John 1:7). Do you really believe that? Then walk in the light. If everybody knows what you are about, there is nothing to be ashamed of, there is no embarrassment.
Pray: "Dear God, help me to keep you close and fearless always."
